The Department of Applied Science and Humanities (ASH) serves as the cornerstone for the study of various engineering disciplines, providing students with robust intellectual and cultural foundations essential for modern professions. Offering a diverse range of courses, including Management, Accounting, Economics, Sociology, English, Psychology, Political Science, Industrial Laws, and Professional Ethics, the department aims to broaden students’ global perspective, foster clear communication skills, cultivate critical and creative thinking abilities, and instill problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, these courses aim to develop engaged citizens and thinkers, reinforce cultural and ethical values, enhance understanding of the societal impact of science and technology, and nurture well-rounded academics. Beyond classroom instruction, dedicated faculty members oversee various clubs such as cultural, language, debating, photography, and career clubs. These clubs organize debate competitions, photo exhibitions, cultural events, and career fairs, contributing to the establishment of a robust cultural and intellectual foundation among engineering students.
Facilities
The library plays a pivotal role in the academic journey of B.Sc Engineering students. To facilitate ease of access and enhance learning, SIMT Engineering College has established a well-stocked library comprising a vast collection of subject-specific and reference books. With over ten thousand domestic and foreign titles, students have ample opportunities to explore and study using their library cards. SIMT continually endeavors to augment its collection by procuring new books, ensuring students have access to the latest resources.
In consideration of students’ residential needs and security, SIMT Engineering College authorities operate separate hostels for boys and girls, accommodating a total of 60 students. Ensuring cleanliness and orderly management, student entries and exits are meticulously recorded in register books. Furthermore, the hostels are equipped with CCTV surveillance for enhanced security. Students residing in the hostel have access to ample library and laboratory facilities.
