Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE)

DURATION

4 Years

Program Description

The journey of modern civilization basically started after the discovery of Electricity by the scientist Volta. Without Electricity our life is stagnant, without Electrical Technology the world is also stagnant. Agrarian and industrial economies are now completely dependent on electricity. From heavy industries to small cottage industries and rural agricultural implements are still under the control of electricity today. All modern medical science equipments are electrically controlled to survive with all the modern equipments of present civilization.Except for electrical technology, all the tools of civilization are meaningless. So it can be said that electricity has immense importance everywhere in civilization and its importance will remain forever. As a result, the demand for Electrical Technology is increasing.

Civil Engineering (CE)

DURATION

4 Years

Program Description

Developed nations are developing and developed nations are developing. State development means the country’s economic infrastructure, transportation system development, and building development. The geographically specific Kin population is growing unplanned and will continue to grow in the future. In this particular region, the basic needs for people’s life such as food, clothing, shelter, education, etc. are gradually increasing. At the same time, unemployment is increasing. Therefore, measures to eliminate unemployment should be taken along with meeting basic needs. There is no alternative to civil engineering in the well-controlled and well-planned construction of city buses, multi-storied buildings, improved roads, railways, bridges, culverts, airports, etc.

FACULTY

Mechanical Engineering (ME)

DURATION

4 Years

Program Description

Mechanical engineering covers a diverse range of engineering fields with five major areas of study: thermodynamics, solid mechanics and dynamics, fluid mechanics, designand manufacturing.Examples of more specialized areas of work are combustion engines, acoustics, aerodynamics, biomechanical engineering, environmental engineering, energy conversion systems, and material science including fracture and fatigue, robotics, and vehicle design. The B.Sc in ME program initially exposes students to a wide range of topics covering the fundamentals. Advanced courses and electives provide more specialized knowledge and emphasize applications. Many courses include experimental lab sections to give students hands-on experience with current engineering and measurement equipment. Throughout the program, several courses are devoted to design in mechanical engineering. Students apply engineering principles to challenging design projects. Working in groups and individually, students develop communication skills through oral and written presentations.

Computer Science & Engineering has become the resilient part of engineering discipline that combines the knowledge of computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering to develop and integrate computer software and hardware. Computer engineers tackled many aspects of computing in software and hardware, from writing software/firmware for embedded microcontroller or developing operating systems to the design of individual microcontroller/microprocessor, personal computer, supercomputer or very basic like circuit/VLSI-Chip design.
Library is an essential part of study in B.Sc Engineering. Keeping in mind the convenience of the students, SIMT Engineering College has established a rich library of subject and reference books. The number of domestic/foreign books in Liberia is more than ten thousand. Students have the opportunity to collect subject-specific books and study in the library after class through the library card. SIMT is always trying to increase this number by adding new books.
Keeping in view the residential facilities and security of the students, SIMT Engineering College authorities have been running separate residential hostels for boys and girls with 60 seats. In addition to cleanliness, the entry, and exit of students are recorded in the register book in order to manage the hostel in an orderly manner. Besides, the hostels are fully controlled by CC cameras. Adequate library and lab facilities are available for the students staying in the hostel. Electrical and Electronic Engineering has emerged over the recent decades as one of the key technological department that greatly impacted today’s society. The scope of this multi-faceted field is broad, encompassing such diverse fields as electric power systems, information technologies, signal and image processing, solid-state electronics, opto-electronics, control system, embedded system and electromagnetics. Interdisciplinary research, combining several of these fields, has led to the realization of new technologies. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of the largest departments in SIMTEC and it creates a centre of excellence of the top-quality students.

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. It is a challenging and dynamic profession that serve the society to improve the quality of life, the health of social system, the continuity of economy and business activities. Civil engineering is the professional practice of designing and developing infrastructure projects. The great thing about civil engineering in the real world is that it’s an industry that perpetually adapts to the demands and desires of society. In recent years, civil engineering has adapted to consider many contemporary environmental concerns, helping to address issues of pollution and scarce water supplies, while considering the potential of sustainable energy within the industry.

Welcome to the Mechanical Engineering Department. Mechanical Engineering is one of the basic engineering branches with its large application fields. Mechanical engineers have been performing their important duty such as improving the living standards of civilized societies successfully. Mechanical engineers are studying on modern systems of present day such as automotive, train, Aircraft and ship industries, power plants, air-conditioning systems, robots, heating/cooling systems and etc. In mechanical engineering, several sub-branches were developed in order to study in the application areas above such as construction and manufacturing, thermodynamics, energy, machine theory and dynamics. The purpose of this department is to build engineers who can use the modern technologies and to encourage the production development by providing the students the current knowledge about mechanical engineering fields. In our department, by observing the future targets of the industry, young and dynamic academicians are working to build the engineers who will be able to compete with the world.

Department of ASH

The Department of Applied Science and Humanities (ASH) includes disciplines and modes of inquiry that provide strong intellectual and cultural foundations for the study of the professions in modern life. This department offers diversified courses to the students of different engineering departments. The major categories of the courses offered by this department includes but are not limited to Management, Accounting, Economics, Sociology, English, Psychology, Political Science, Industrial Laws, and Professional Ethics. The objectives of introducing those courses are to strengthen students’ global view, broaden their intellectual foundation, teach them to communicate clearly, help them to develop creative and critical thinking skills, teach them to be problem solvers, create engaged citizens and thinkers, reinforce cultural and ethical responsibilities and values, help them to understand the impact that science and technology have on society, and create well-rounded academics, students and thinkers. In addition to classroom teaching of those courses, its dedicated teachers are operating various clubs such as cultural club, language club, debating club, photography club, career clubs etc. These clubs are helping to arrange debate competition, photo exhibition, cultural nights and career fair, which are contributing to build strong cultural and intellectual foundation among the engineering students.
