Mechanical engineering encompasses a wide array of engineering disciplines, focusing on five major areas: thermodynamics, solid mechanics and dynamics, fluid mechanics, design and manufacturing. Specialized areas of study include combustion engines, acoustics, aerodynamics, biomechanical engineering, environmental engineering, energy conversion systems, material science, robotics, and vehicle design.
